Review Policy

Frameworks, environmental criteria, and the scope of our published evaluations.

Evidence Limitations & Scope

All evaluations on FocalNomad operate under a specification-research model. We do not conduct darkroom photometer laboratory testing, ANSI measurement chamber certifications, or long-term component teardowns. Our guides synthesize technical blueprints, spatial throw calculations, thermal and power standards, and documented owner reports to assess product viability.

Comparison Criteria

1. Mobility & Power Infrastructure

We differentiate true internal battery runtime from plug-dependent compact units, evaluating DC barrel inputs against universal USB-C Power Delivery thresholds.

2. Spatial Placement & Keystone Tolerance

We calculate throw distance ratios for compact quarters and assess whether digital keystone correction degrades effective resolution on non-centered projections.

3. Ambient Light Thresholds

We categorize units strictly by usable environment: full blackout required, dim ambient light tolerant, or dusk-only outdoor viewing.

4. Audio & Media Latency

We assess internal speaker power output, fan noise interference, and Bluetooth audio synchronization delays when connected to external sound systems.

No Blended Aggregate Scores

We avoid generic 5-star scoring systems that obscure critical flaws. Products are judged by functional fit for specific setup types, such as bedside projection, temporary rental living rooms, or portable camping trips.
